About the Trainer

Mel Ward is a teacher and education consultant with a wide range of experience working with young people in mainstream education.

A qualified Mental Health First-Aider with accreditation in Child psychology, counselling psychotherapy and mindfulness,

Melody is also qualified to deliver an innovative social-emotional learning curriculum designed to be taught across the key stages.

Course Outline

  • An overview of children’s mental health and factors that affect wellbeing
  • An introduction to early intervention and prevention, spotting the triggers and signs of mental health issues
  • Therapeutic approach tools that can be used in the classroom as well as whole school setting.
  • Knowledge to help an individual to recover their mental health by guiding them to further support

This course is ideal for those who work, or have an interest in working with children and young people in a professional or voluntary capacity. It is also beneficial for people who are interested in the mental health of young people such as parents or carers.
